Civica Americana
International
Promoting America's civic values and strengthening
constitutional democracy throughout the Hispanic
world
As a complement to our domestic efforts, Civica
Americana International is dedicated to
explaining and promoting America's civic values,
founding ideals and constitutional free market
principles throughout the Spanish speaking world. We
believe much of the current wave of populist
authoritarianism and anti-Americanism in Latin
America is due to a lack of understanding of the
basic merits of the American system, compounded by
years of misinformation.
Civica Americana International
will also work to help strengthen and promote
democracy and constitutionalism throughout the
Americas
America's founding fathers created the
decentralized, American system of constitutional
federalism, precisely to avoid the rise of a the
type of populist and authoritarian demagogues we are
now seeing in some parts of Latin America. And
despite their imperfections, the founders have so
far succeeded in that regard for nearly 220 years.
Civica Americana International
is the only US-based non-profit 501 (c) (3) created
to perform this vital mission. We hope to bridge the
gap in information by using successful Hispanic
Americans as goodwill ambassadors in exchange
programs and events in Latin America and Spain to
help explain and promote American heritage, values
and constitutional and free market principles.
To further that mission Civica Americana
International is developing links to, and
exchange programs with, like-minded groups and
institutions throughout the Hispanic world. In
addition to this NGO-to-NGO approach we will be
creating programs with the various Hispanic foreign
embassies in the US to help foster educational
programs about the U.S. in their host countries as
well as programs for their nationals living in the
US.
Additionally, we are developing contacts with the
Latin American and Spanish media to serve as a
primary point of contact and clearinghouse for
information on the United States,
constitutionalism and democracy.
Finally we hope to create a cadre of bi-lingual
English teachers and volunteers who can spend weeks
or months in these countries teaching English and
civics.
Other projects are in the funding and development
phase.
